The extraordinary human artistic flowering known as the Renaissance gave us what is often referred to as “The Golden Age of Choral Music,” when all the greatest composers of the world were writing for chorus. At the very end of this period two figures towered over them all: Lassus and Byrd. Several iconic works will be performed, including Lassus’s Justorum animae and Surrexit Pastor Bonus, and Ave Verum Corpus and Four-Part Mass by Byrd.
